Whānau Check-in: Staying Prepared for Cyclone Vaianu

Kia ora whānau,

As we head toward the weekend, we are keeping an eye on Cyclone Vaianu. MetService has issued a Strong Wind Watch for this Sunday, 12 April (1am – 11pm), and we want to ensure everyone feels ready and supported.

Being prepared is about peace of mind. Here are a few simple ways to look after your home and each other today:

Around the yard: Secure or bring in loose items like trampolines and outdoor furniture.

Clear the drains: A quick check of gutters for leaves helps prevent water buildup.

Animals & Pets: Ensure stock and pets have a safe, dry space for Sunday.

Manaakitanga: Check in on kaumātua or neighbours to see if they need a hand with these small tasks.
